Synopsis

As Ethos Is My Judge...!Cast out of Apokolips by Darkseid, Mister Miracle finds himself drawn down to the surreal realm of Ethos. Immediately, Mister Miracle finds himself constricted by a pair of snakes, that then transform into chains. The mysterious Ethos has a lesson to impart upon Mister Miracle. Guiding him to a flight of stairs ending at a door, Mister Miracle is given the choice to step through of his own free will. Motivated by curiosity, he does. Mister Miracle suddenly finds himself behind the wheel of an automobile, unchained, alongside Oberon. It takes him a moment to realize that he is participating in an endless race, with other New Gods. Darkseid maneuvers his car up next to Mister Miracle's, then hurls a knife into Oberon. Mister Miracle reacts with shock, until he realizes that Oberon is unharmed. Abandoning the race, Mister Miracle drives his vehicle into the sky, where it explodes. Falling back into the onlooking crowd of "Lowlies", Mister Miracle is swarmed by the audience, who all cry out to Mister Miracle to grant them their salvation. Mister Miracle demands they save themselves. The "Lowlies" rise up against Darkseid, who slaughters them all in a matter of seconds. The tableau ends, as, Mister Miracle reappears, in chains, back in Ethos' domain. Ethos asks what Mister Miracle has learned thus far. MIster Miracle claims that all he has gained from the experience is doubts in places where once there were none.Ethos again leads Mister Miracle to a flight of stairs and another door. Stepping through, Mister Miracle is almost immediately attacked by Orion. Toppling over backwards, MIster Miracle trips over an anthill being built by tiny humans. The ant size populace flee from Mister Miracle, who is then attacked by his own wife, Big Barda. Having no desire to battle the love of his life, Mister Miracle flees. Before he can get far, Mister Miracle is shrunk down to insect size, by Mother Box, and forced to join the human colony, as a working drone....
